Cooper - 6 Month Stats

We had Cooper's well-baby visit this morning and it went fantastic.

6 Month Stats:

Weight:  17 lbs (40th percentile) - up 2 lb 11 oz from 4 month checkup

Length: 27.5" (80th percentile) - 2" longer than month 4
Head: 45cm (90th percentile) - 2cm bigger than month 4

 

Cooper - 26 weeks

A recap of Cooper's 26th week...

Poor Cooper.  I have nothing written down for this week to remember exactly what you were up to.  I apologize, but I'm absolutely positive that you were precious and adorable.  We love you so much!

Cooper - 6 Months

When Chase was 6 months old, I took a picture of him in the little bathtub.  I guess it's Cooper's turn now!

6 Months:

Unofficial Weight: 17 pounds
Diaper Size: Size 2
Clothes: 3-6 month clothes, but we are digging out some of Chase's old 12 month summer clothes to get some extra miles out of them
Hair/Eyes: I give up, his hair is blondie/brown.  His eyes are now mostly green/brown, but with a smidge of gray/blue.
Favorite toy: He loves to jump in the jumperoo.  He likes playing with Silly Town and making the towers we build crash to the floor. 
Favorite food:  Milk
Typical daily schedule: He now goes to bed around 7 in this crib.  He is much, much, much easier put to bed than his older brother was at this age.  Chase needed to be rocked and rocked and rocked.  Cooper is rarely ever rocked (poor thing) because dinnertime usually puts him right to sleep.  He's still swaddled tightly each night.  He usually sleeps in until around 3 or 4 or so and then sleeps next to me until morning.

Chase - 2 years, 11 months

Big boy is getting bigger and smarter and wiser and craftier and more cunning and cuter and more hilarious and he is such a joy!

I was having a busy week at work so I never had time to take any good pictures of the guys for the monthly shots, so Drew got this one for me!

Chase currently weighs about 36 pounds.  I think over half that weight must be milk and the other half is fruit chews and chicken nuggets.

Late last month Drew got sick and tired of hearing Avenger DVDs playing in the car so he decided to buy some preschool videos that would teach Chase about the letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and some other early reading videos.  Oh my gosh, those videos are so horribly boring to watch as an adult, but Chase LOVES them!  Since we've bought them, Chase has had a love affair with his letters and numbers.  He's reading out letters and numbers to us everywhere we go.  Chase didn't need any help with his shapes because he mastered those over a year ago (even though he has yet to pronounce rectangle, square, and triangle properly)!  He hasn't quite got the whole color thing down yet.  He knows the names of all the colors, but if you ask him what color something is, he'll just shout out a random color - usually green, blue, purple, or black!

The closer we get to 3 the more and more tantrums Chase is likely to have at any given moment.  I can sense when most tantrums are coming and usually do whatever I can to make sure they don't happen since handling a 6 month old in a heavy carrier and a near 3 year old who all of a sudden lost the use of his legs and is in a whining/screaming fit is not my idea of a good time when I'm already late for work and I've also got Cooper's diaper bag and my car keys and probably a package or two of diapers with me as well.  Have I mentioned that morning drop offs are usually pretty interesting!? 

The security key pad by the entrance to daycare has been my nemesis lately.  Chase wants to press the code each morning, but that involves putting all of my things and Cooper down and picking Chase up to type in the code.  Most of the time, he'll just let me lead him in pressing the code while he shouts out the numbers (top notch security there!).  Other times he wants to go off script and start pressing random numbers.  Then you have the random parent who does the "nice" thing by trying to hold the door open for you.  Nope.  Chase doesn't allow that and I have to try to politely decline their helpfulness while I try to get Chase to enter the right code!  Luckily days like that only happen about once a week or so!

4 Weeks In Pictures - July 30th through August 26th

Where do I even begin on this week in pictures that quickly turned into a month in pictures??  It started out with me getting strep throat which pretty much physically knocked me out for 3 days and then has resulted in being behind in every other aspect of life/work ever since.  Luckily none of the other boys in the house got what I had!

This was taken the weekend before I got sick.  Coop relaxing at the pool.

 

Chase started a new class at school this month.  No girls in his new class!  He loves it though.

 

The week after I was sick, I took Cooper to the doctor because he was congested and I thought I might have heard a slight wheezing in his chest.  Also I noticed a red, blotchy rash on his chest and legs.  Our doctor said he had a minor upper respiratory infection and he didn't need anything more than baby tylenol to make him feel better.  He said the rash was just some random virus and nothing to worry about.  The next day, I get a call from daycare about 2 minutes before a meeting I was in.  They call and say that they think he has hand, foot, and mouth because the rash he had is now near his mouth and on his feet.  I freak and text Drew to immediately pick him up since I was not near the daycare that day.  Drew takes him to the doctor and they said he definitely DOES NOT have hand, foot, and mouth!  Well, that's good.  They freaked me out, but I was relieved!

 When I get Cooper ready in the morning, Chase chills out in the living room watching whatever he asks to watch.  This particular morning it looks like he's drinking milk and eating goldfish crackers.  Pretty typical!

 From our 24 week photoshoot.  Sucking on his lower lip.  Cute!

 

Target had these foam hammers on the dollar section recently.  We bought two.  Chase becomes a madman with this hammer.  I wanted to see what would happen if we gave Cooper one.  Unfortunately, Chase started attacking Cooper.  Luckily it was foam, so no one was hurt!

Now that Coop is sitting up and able to play with more toys, Chase finds having a little brother just a tad bit more interesting.

Coop loves to smile!  He's going to be our little flirt.  He's also going to be able to get anything he wants with that grin!

 Someone has a birthday coming up.  Someone else is in over their head with a certain thing their going to try to make!

 Cooper had just woken up from a nap and I readjusted the video camera so I could see his face.  Then he spotted me watching him!

It's that time again.  Baby food! Coop will be tasting sometime this week.

Cooper - 25 weeks

A recap of Cooper's 25th week...

This is the week that Cooper has officially mastered sitting up.  He's no longer a wee little baby!

We started increasing the size of his bottles at school from 4oz bottles every 2 hours to 5oz bottles every two hours.  In comparison, Chase was taking almost 6 to 8oz bottles at his age.  I think that's why they remember Chase so much in the nursery!  Of course, Cooper still eats every hour when at home.

Cooper - 24 weeks

A recap of Cooper's 24th week...

This week Cooper had a cold and a rash that allowed him to visit the doctor's office a couple of different times.  Thankfully it was no big deal.  At the doctor's office we learned that Cooper weighs 16 pounds.

Cooper is beginning to spit, blow bubbles, and suck on his lower lip.  Precious.

Cooper's sleeping goes in cycles as to whether it is great, tolerable, or completely annoying.  This week might have been considered annoying and amazing.  He currently goes to sleep around 7:30, but this week for almost 5 days straight would wake up at 11pm ON THE DOT.  For various reasons, when Cooper wakes up from about 11 to midnight, it's just inconvenient for both Drew and I, so the fact he did it for so many days in a row just became funny after while.  Also this week, besides wanting to eat at 11, he'd also want to eat at 3, and then again in the early morning.  I think sleeping in 2 to 3 hour stretches is becoming completely normal!

One interesting thing that I've noticed since returning to work is that I no longer wake up to the baby monitors at night.  I have always been a fairly light sleeper and was always the first one to wake up to the monitor and then start kicking Drew to go check on whichever kid was making noise.  Now that responsibility has fallen completely on Drew since I am apparently in another world when I sleep.  Drew is also a heavy sleeper so I'm starting to wonder how long Cooper may be crying before we (Drew) responds!

Cooper - 23 weeks

A recap of Cooper's 23rd week...

This week Cooper began sitting up better.  This gave us an opportunity to begin playing with some actual toys.  Cooper was thrilled to have something else to do besides bounce in a seat and jump in the ExerSaucer!  Chase was equally as thrilled to have someone to say "No, mine" to over and over again.

Cooper is now wanting to grab all the things within his reach.  My glasses are one of his favorites.  Luckily his first instinct after getting them isn't to pull the ear pieces in extreme opposite directions like another little kid I know.

Cooper - 22 weeks

A recap of Cooper's 22nd week...

Cooper has been a little bundle of happiness this week (with a few exceptions).

He's officially in the stage where everything he can capture with his hands goes straight into his mouth.  Sometimes this even includes people's noses.

He's getting better and better at rolling over from belly to back.  But he's also starting to enjoy sleeping on his belly more when he's sleeping next to me (and I'm desperate for sleep!).

He is getting rounder and rounder now that he's at school and taking bottles every 2 hours.  He's also finally starting to take decent naps at school.  Some even longer than an hour!  The teachers always comment on how similar Cooper is to Chase and how they have the same cry.  I must think that all babies sound the same because I never really paid attention, but I also think it's amazing that they can remember how Chase sounded over 2 years ago when they've taken care of 50 or more babies since then!
